Hi
I'm gradually getting to grips with sentence templates and attempting to customise them for improved reading within narrative reports.
At present my Sentence template for a marriage fact appears as follows:
<br><br>{individual} married {spouse/her/him} {date} {place} {their ages}. <br><The best man was {role(single)=Best man}. ><{role(single)=Maid of Honor} was the Maid of Honor. ><{role(single)=bridesmaid} was a bridesmaid. ><{role(plural)=bridesmaid} were bridesmaids. ><{role(plural)=witness} were signatory witnesses. ><{role(single)=guest} was a guest. ><{role(plural)=guest} were guests. ><The ceremony was conducted by {role=minister}. ><The ceremony was conducted by {role=priest}. ><The ceremony was conducted by {role=rabbi}. ><The ceremony was conducted by {role=assistant curate}. ><The ceremony was conducted by {role=vicar}. >
I have two <br> so that there is a new line and a space between the married fact sentence and the preceding one in a narrative report.
The sentence appears thus when publishing a individual narrative report for the person concerned who was married:
He married her on 6 April 1886 in St. Saviours Church, Brockley Hill, Lewisham, Kent, England when he was 26 and she was 20.
Henry John Albion COLLINS and Martha (Hannah) Anna (CLEMENTS) CLEMMENTS were signatory witnesses.
However an individual narrative report appears as follows for a person who was a signatory witness to the marriage:
They appeared in the Census on 3 April 1881 at 71, Ewart Road, Forest Hill, Lewisham, Kent, England when he was 32 and she was 41. She witnessed the marriage of Richard HYDE and Edith Harriet POTTER on 6 April 1886 in St. Saviours Church, Brockley Hill, Lewisham, Kent, England.
I have discovered that one can go to a person who witnessed the marriage and locate the relevant fact in the Property Box, the sentence template for them as a Witness appears as follows:
{individual} witnessed the marriage of {principal} {date} {place}
Whilst I can modify this sentence for that particular individual and event so that the sentence reads as I want and enter a <br> for a new line so that it appears as follows:
<br>Was a signatory witness at the marriage of {principal} {date} {place}
It seems it is not possible to modify a sentence template in just one location so that all such witness sentences will read as my modified sentence unless I have missed something.
Hope I have explained clearly what I’m trying to do.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Shiriki

Re: Marriage Fact - Witness Sentences
Yes, in the Fact Definition dialogue for the Marriage Event, where you have been editing the Sentence Template for the primary couple, click the Roles button to the right of the Witness Roles list.
In the Witness Roles for Marriage dialogue select any Role and click Edit to reveal the Witness Sentence Template where you can insert the <br>.
If you click the Help button in the Fact Definition dialogue, then it is all explained there.

Hi Tatewise
Excellent, I should have looked deeper in the Fact Definition area......missed the Roles button....
Now need to add <br> in the other roles (and check sentence wording) as required to improve the narrative report layouts.
Many Thanks
