* Use of 'Given Name Used' field on Individuals Main Tab

Hi Forum

Is there a way to display the 'Given Name Used' value on the Main Tab rather than having to remember to look into the More(+) option next to the Individuals full name?

David, I notice that you have already used Customize Data Entry on the Main tab for Custom Id, etc.
So do the same for Given Name Used.
You could even add it to Part 2 of the Custom Id Item so both are on the same row.

Thanks - it doesn't appear in the selection list for Customizing. But I have some notes from Jane on how to construct this, so I'll have a go.

Particularly like to idea of adding it to the same row as Custom ID, always wondered what Part 2 was all about.

I solved it for the Main (Individual) but can't get it to work for the Spouse. I get an message, please see the screen shots. What is it I'm doing wrong?

Screen shots are in reverse order of create process.

Firstly, when you add the <custom item> initially you must choose the Area for spouse details not Main area for Individual.

Then in the Item you use the same Data Refs as for Individual because now working from Spouse perspective.
i.e. INDI.REFN and INDI.NAME._USED

The tab for the spouse already shows the spouse's Given Name Used.

Hi Peter - not as standard in 6.2.2 at least. Or at least I didn't have it for Individual or Spouse and I have not changed this area of FH with any customizing. Perhaps you could submit a screen shot.

Peter is correct in that the actual Spouse: tab legend is the Given Name Used or if blank then the usual Firstname.
The same applies to the Marriage Event in the Facts tab top pane. It has been that way for many many years.

Are we talking the same thing as I'm now confused (not difficult to do with my thin knowledge of FH). if it is already there - why did I need to create it on the Main Tab for the Individual Property Box as per my screen shots?

In this screenshot Julia has the Given Name Used of Jules whereas Susan has no Given Named Used value.

You do still need to add Given Name Used to the Main Individual section above.

Got it now, The Name tab itself contains the Used version for the spouse.. Many thanks both.
