Here's the latest:

Sample project test
search ian scot /munro/
replace anthony edward /munro/

1:45 am. found ian scot /munro/ in 4 seconds
waited 10 minutes - still no anthony

regular find in sample project
for dow - used only the partial name and left all "look in" boxes checked but no match case or match whole word
found 18 in about 2 seconds

searched for reardon with only names checked
found 4 matches in about 2 seconds
---------------
For my project - using regular S&R
Search rebecca /lamb/
replace alice /lamb/
no result

Using Plug in
search rebecca /lamb/
replace alice /lamb/

for any effort to either search, or search and replace, I got the following:
"Newline characters in Search &/or Replace test are reserved exclusively for Long Text Fields, such as Note, Fact Address, Text From Source."
Sorry, I don't understand that.

Plain text, case insensitive and whole words were the only selections checked other than individual names, etc.

The Save in UTF-8 File format is NOT checked.

In the S&R Plugin most Search and Replace boxes must NOT contain any newline characters, i.e. do not use Enter key.

From your screenshot it appears you have disabled the display of / around Names.
Use Tools > Preferences to switch them back on any try S&R and F&R again.

Searching for part names without / around surnames appears more successful.

Also try re-installation FH V6.2.2 as it can do no harm.

Thanks for all the efforts to find a quick solution to this problem. I think pretty much everything has been explored so it looks like a reinstall is the final answer. Don't have the time at the moment but will post the outcome when I am able to do the install.

Again, great group here with good suggestions - and a LOT of patience!

Re-installation is actually very quick. No Registration Key is required.

Just download FH V6.2.2 from http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... ee-upgrade and double-click the downloaded upgrade_fh6_to_6.2.2_dl.exe file to install over your existing set-up without un-installing anything.

It may be advisable to use the Run as administrator and associated techniques explained in the Introduction to how_to:family_historian_installation_problems|> Family Historian Installation Problems that ensure the installation proceeds unhindered.
