Zoom buttons V6
Has something changed with the W10 Anniversary Update?
I used to be able to use the zoom buttons on a diagram to zoom in and out in tiny increments. Just now I noticed that it goes from too big (can't see enough of the diagram) with the +. Then too small (can't read the writing) with the -.
I know I can adjust the zoom in other ways but it was quick and handy to adjust a diagram's view with the buttons, apparently now not available??

Re: Zoom buttons V6
I presume you mean the green + Zoom In and - Zoom Out buttons on the toolbar.
What Zoom % numbers are shown on the bottom margin?
I have not had the W10 Anniversary Update yet, so cannot check.

Re: Zoom buttons V6
I also have the update - the view changes in smallish increments as I hit either of the buttons (much as I would expect it to).
Not sure what the increments should be, but starting at 100% (as shown at the bottom of the diagram) each hit of the + button goes from 100% to 114% to 133% to 160% to 200%.

Re: Zoom buttons V6
I now have the Win10 Anniversary Update Version 1607 and the FH Diagram Zoom is jumping large steps.
From 100% the Zoom In goes to 1000% and with further Zoom In stays at 1000%.
From 100% the Zoom Out goes to 50% then 33%, 25%, 10%, 17% ...

Works fine on my laptop with W10 AU.
Goes from 100% - 109% - 121% - 135% - 152% - 175% etc upto 999%
going down goes from 100% - 92% - 85% - 80% - 75% etc.

They are exactly the same increments as I get with mine, got to admit not tried it on my laptop yet, but I have never updated to version 6 on my laptop anyway as I rarely use FH on there.TimTreeby wrote:Works fine on my laptop with W10 AU.

Re: Zoom buttons V6
My problem is affecting FH V5 too.
On further investigation it only applies to Windows Accounts that have Start > Settings > System > Display set greater than 100% when the Windows 10 Anniversary Update was performed.
Even resetting it to 100% and rebooting PC has no effect on FH Diagram Zoom.
I am looking into the problem further.
Dave ~ Warning: Don't try exchanging Projects between PC as FH V6 and FH V5 are NOT compatible.

Well, strangely it seems a lot better today. Goes from 100% to 89% to 80% to 73%, which is perfectly acceptable.
I think mine was doing the same as yours yesterday Mike Tate. I haven't changed anything!!!

Re: Zoom buttons V6
Having reset Start > Settings > System > Display to 100% I have performed a full PC Shutdown and Restart.
i.e. Sign Out and then press & hold the On/Off Power button for 10 seconds until PC Shutsdown, then boot-up as normal, but its takes a little longer.
On Windows 10 this bypasses the default fast start-up mode that is a kind of Sleep/Hibernate mode.
Now the Diagram Zoom steps are much the same as normal again, but my Display is back to 100%.
So I need to experiment with what happens if I set Display to 125% as originally.

Re: Zoom buttons V6
Fast start-up in Windows 10 is known to cause problems sometimes, see here (amongst many others if you google for "fast start-up"):
http://www.howtogeek.com/243901/the-pro ... rtup-mode/
The general recommendation seems to be to turn it off unless you are desperate to have your Win 10 boot up quickly. Certainly if you have an SSD as your system "disk" then you won't see much benefit from Fast start-up. The link above shows how to turn it off (some Win 10 updates turn it back on, so worth checking from time to time!).

Re: Zoom buttons V6
Yes, I was aware of that, and fast start-up also sometimes upsets the User Profile so that Start Menu and Notifications do not work.
BUT a normal Restart should override fast start-up and perform a full shutdown & reboot.
However, that did not cure the Diagram Zoom problem, so I resorted to the On/Off Power button method.

Re: Zoom buttons V6
Thanks for that Mike, but I was aware of that, I rarely use it on my Laptop. If I have had the need to, I just copy across the Gedcom file from my main PC. I know I get errors re Places etc. but that,s not a problem as I never copy it back, as, on the rare occasions when I have used it, on holiday, family visits etc. It would be just for reference. I really should get around to updating my laptoptatewise wrote: Dave ~ Warning: Don't try exchanging Projects between PC as FH V6 and FH V5 are NOT compatible.
