Hi,
I have discovered an error in my tree which means I have to delete several entries. Is there an easy way to do that please? Do I work on the parents then back in time or the greats and forward?
Many thanks.

First of all use File > Backup/Restore > Small Backup just in case!
See how_to:delete_a_large_number_of_records|> Delete A Large Number of Records using a Named List.
So select all the records you want to delete and add them to the list, where they can be deleted in bulk, but do NOT do that yet because it sounds like you are deleting a whole Ancestor sub-tree.
When the Individual records are deleted any Family records with no members will automatically be deleted.
BUT any linked Note, Source, Media, and Place records will NOT be deleted, even if they have no links.
So you need to review the Records Window tabs for Notes, Sources, Media, and Places beforehand to identify those with no Links/Citations. Then after deleting the Individual records, review the same tabs again, and delete all the redundant records with no links. In the case of Media records you also need to delete the files from the Media folder using the Check for Unlinked Media Plugin.
BTW: If you never keep Note, Source, Media, and Place records without links, then a better way to bulk delete is to use the File > Import/Export > GEDCOM File command. If that is the case then ask for advice on how to use that method, which is much simpler and safer.
