Fact Set - To Do Lists
Hi Forum
I have downloaded the objects that support recording the To Do lists for Individuals. It works okay except if I remove a To Do record from the To Do Property Box Tab for an Individual and Save. The same Individual still appears in the Custom Query 'To Do List' despite the record being removed, the project Saved and a Validation run and the FH program restarted. Any ideas on how to fix this as it is misleading.
By the way I used a Prefix of 'Check:' and not one of the expected values such as Birth, Marriage, Death, etc. That appear in the result set for To Do List
Thank you
David

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
You could delete the To Do fact via the Facts tab.
Better, is to update the Query on its Rows tab by adding:
Exclude if =IsTrue(%FACT.NOTE2% = "") is true
To cater for label Check: on its Columns tab replace say Birth" with Check" in Heading and Expression and delete the unwanted Columns.

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
Hi Mike
Thanks for the reply. The problem actually sorted itself out when I ran the Re-Order out of Sequence Events from Tools. I guess if it can't find the record in the To Do Property Tab it then removes the To Do fact - not entirely sure. But the rogue records in that list are now gone.

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
David, it cannot be the Tools > Re-order Out-of-Sequence Data command as that NEVER deletes anything.
Closing & opening FH auto-deletes empty fields such as Date, Place, Note, etc, but NEVER deletes facts such as To Do.
Can you confirm whether the To Do fact is still listed on the Facts tab or not.
It would be useful if you could repeat the whole process to substantiate your claims, because I cannot repeat the symptoms you describe.

Hi Mike
I can confirm the Fact - To Do's have now gone. I make a new test and document to try to reproduce.

Hi Mike
Sorry - I could not reproduce what I 'thought' I witnessed the other night. I do apologise for wasting your time.

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
No problem David, I often believe my PC did something, and then cannot repeat it.
I have updated fhugdownloads:contents:fact_set_to_do_lists|> Fact Set ~ To Do Lists with a new version of the To Do List query that adds the Rows tab filter Exclude if =IsEmpty(%FACT.NOTE2%) is true that should resolve your original problem, but you will have to make the change to cater for your Check: label, or you could just add that filter to your existing query.

Hi Mike
Thanks - can I safely install the newer version over the old or do I need to uninstall first?

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
Yes, any new download such as Query, Diagram Type, Report Type, Plugin, etc, can be installed over existing item.
But in this case it is probably easier to just add the new Rows filter to your existing Query.
The only exception is Property Box Tab definitions that will create a new tab, but old tab can easily be deleted.

Re: Fact Set - To Do Lists
David, I have been able to reproduce your disappearing To Do fact symptoms!
Initially a To Do fact has a Note field attached that holds your Check: tasks.
If you delete all those Check: tasks the Note field is empty, but still exists.
So, when FH is Saved & Opened that Note field is automatically pruned, but the To Do fact still exists.
Now if FH is Saved & Opened again, the To Do fact is empty, and gets automatically deleted.
Note that this fact deletion only applies to Attributes and not to Events, but the pruning of empty sub-fields applies to both.
