Can I use Windows 7 and Windows 10?
My desktop was poorly and was upgraded to Windows 10 as a last resort by the technician. (It seems to have worked) However I didn't upgrade my Netbook which is still on 7. My FH file is stored in Dropbox. I have accessed it from my desktop since the upgrade. Do I need to upgrade my netbook to 10 or can I leave it as it is?

Jenny, you do NOT have to upgrade your netbook from Win 7 to Win 10, but if you can, then it would probably be worthwhile, so you don't have to cope with two rather different versions of Windows and you get a longer support period, as mainstream Win 7 Support has already ended, although security updates continue until 14 Jan 2020.
However, you have missed the free upgrade deadline of 29 July, but I have been told that if you set the Date back to before 29 July you can still get the upgrade for free, and then you adjust the Date to be correct again. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a Win 10 licence.
I assume that when you say the technician "upgraded to Windows 10" then that was an in-situ upgrade (not a clean install), and FH did NOT need to be re-installed. If FH was re-installed, then you need to use the Backup and Restore FH Settings Plugin on the netbook to Backup customisation settings, transfer them to desktop and use the Plugin Restore option, similar to the advice in how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide.

Thanks, Mike. It seems to have been an insitu upgrade as everything in FH seems to be normal. I'll try your advice on getting a free upgrade. Apparently it also works if you go through the "assisted user" path but your way sounds easier.
