Hi Forum
I'm working in the Records Window (Workspace) using Individual and Source records at different times. I working through each record set to check certain data. However, it is difficult to see what record I'm currently looking at as although the screen changes to show which record id is selected it is not very obvious. Is there a way to improve the highlight for the selected record or even use a particular colour to distinguish it better from the other records? I have looked around but can't seem to figure it out - if it is possible that is?
The screen shot displays what I see, but to be fair when looking at the FH screen it is not so obvious.
Many Thanks
David

Re: Stronger Highlight of Selected Record
There are Tools > Preferences > Records Window > Colours settings but they do NOT affect highlighting.
Have you tried setting the Property Window to docked/floating & open in the Records Windows workspace settings?
So when you select a record the whole Property Box display is updated.
The only other option would be to personalise Windows themes.

Re: Stronger Highlight of Selected Record
Hi Mike
I could not get that first suggestion to work, most probably my misunderstanding of your instructions. Also I'm not sure it would help my cause as I use the record window to remember where I am in the list. If it was to automatically open the properties window I'm still left with the same dilemma when I close that window. IE, where am I in the list.
No big deal but I do have problems seeing the 'highlighted' record. Sometimes it shows as a faint Blue colour and sometimes it is not coloured at all, just a very faint box showing which record is highlighted.
Not sure how to personalise windows themes for this issue?
Regards
David

Re: Stronger Highlight of Selected Record
Are you working through lots of records and checking them?
What I normally do for jobs like this is to add all the records to a Named list and delete them as I finish each one. That way it's easy to remember where I am even between sessions.

Re: Stronger Highlight of Selected Record
The faint box is a kind of 'ghost' and the record is not actually selected at all.
BUT if you press the space bar on your keyboard it does become selected and highlighted.
Press the space bar again to de-select the record.
However, Jane's suggestion of adding your records to a Named List is probably a better solution.
In Records Window to show Named Lists use Lists > Named Lists Pane or click Named Lists Pane toolbar button.
Select any existing Named List or create a New Named List.
Select whatever records you are interested in and use Add to Current/Selected Named List.
The records can be of any mixture of types, and if you do not click on a column heading to sort them, they will remain in the order you added them, or if you right-click the Named List and choose Keep Current List Order, whenever the list is opened it starts in the chosen order.
Then as each record is processed, use Edit > X Delete or the Delete key on keyboard, to remove each entry from list.

Hi Both
Sorry only just seen your replies and many thanks for these. I can see a named list would work for my needs.
Thank you once again.
