Hi, I want to print out my family tree but am having problems saving and viewing it.
If I save as a pdf. ready for the Printers, I can't change any errors.
If I save as a diagram and then look at in the 'view list' I can't enlarge it.
What is the easiest way to do this please? Any help would be appreciated.
My worry is getting it printed and then finding that I have missed out a chunk of relatives!
Lesley

Re: Diagram PDF files
Welcome to the FHUG Lesley.
Yes, once you have saved a Diagram (or a Report) to PDF then you probably cannot edit it, unless you have a PDF Editor, which are often expensive, and editing a Diagram PDF would be very difficult anyway.
So you must review your Diagram before sending to the printers.
If you spot errors in the PDF then revert to the FH Diagram/Chart tools to make corrections and Save Diagram As > PDF File again.
It sounds like you are using Save Diagram to create a Family Historian Chart that is opened via View > Save Charts.
All the usual Diagram editing features should work with a Chart, so I am not sure what you mean by "I can't enlarge it".
Try the Zoom controls via + Zoom In and - Zoom Out and Diagram > Zoom.
Try the Scale controls via Diagram > Layout & Scaling > Diagram Scale or Diagram > Options > General tab Scaling.
You can use the horizonal & vertical scroll bars and the hand Grabber and other tools to navigate around the Chart.
I presume you are working with an All Relatives Diagram, but this does not necessarily include all branches, such as the Ancestors of Spouses who are not blood-line relatives.

Re: Diagram PDF files
Hi Mike,
Many thanks. I will have another try.
I created the chart by using the diagram descendants and then kept adding the descendants. It is so large it is easy to miss a link downwards.
When I look at it in the view mode, it is almost a thin line, I tried to enlarge but will try again.
Just a point, at the bottom it says 5% and occasionally says loading - does this means anything?
I am very grateful for such a quick reply.

Re: Diagram PDF files
To include all Descendants simply use Diagram > Options > General tab and set Generations Down to All. Then you do not need to use the Expansion Buttons because all generations are guaranteed to be included. While there you could experiment with different Orientation such as Left-right.
The 5% at the bottom is the Zoom which is adjusted by using the + Zoom In and - Zoom Out buttons on the toolbar across the top.
Also try the Select Area To View + magnifying glass button to their right.
If you adjust the Scale it will be shown as Scale: 50% at the bottom.

Many thanks. That's going to be so useful.
I really ought to read your forum more often, always learn something new.
Once again my thanks. Lesley
