Yes Mervyn, that was the Google reference I found.
BUT the main problem here is that two very similar Gedcom behave differently!?

Re: Notes missing from exported GEDCOM
Mike what has changed is that this is a new Gedcom. My Gedcom on my phone is static and for reference only. I have not updated it from FH since v5.0 about 2 years or more ago. Since then both the Heredis app and iOS have been updated multiple times.tatewise wrote:Colin, last Sunday you suggested that both types of Note transferred to iPhone OK.
But now it is failing ~ what has changed?

Re: Notes missing from exported GEDCOM
I have been able to borrow my granddaughter's iPad and install Heredis to test some theories all via Email attachments.
After various trials of different adjustments to the Gedcom file I have discovered what is hiding the FH Note Records.
In the FTM Gedcom Bloggs 1.ged Note Records have the following format:
0 @N1@ NOTE
1 CONC Marriage witnesses: John Bloggs, Annie Smith
1 CONT Occupation : Iron moulder
0 @N2@ NOTE
1 CONC Occupation: Dressmaker
Whereas the FH Gedcom Bloggs 2.ged Note Records have the following format:
0 @N1@ NOTE Marriage witnesses: John Bloggs, Annie Smith
1 CONT Occupation : Iron moulder
0 @N2@ NOTE Occupation: Dressmaker
Both are perfectly valid and accepted by most products including Heredis for Windows.
BUT Heredis for iOS does NOT accept the FH Note Record format, which is a fault in Heredis.
After editing Bloggs 2.ged to place the first line of note text in a 1 CONC tag it imported to Heredis on iPad OK.
See attachment Bloggs 2 NOTE CONC.ged.
A similar workaround is to manually insert a blank line at the beginning of every Note Record in FH, then the Export > GEDCOM File command will produce a Gedcom that Heredis likes.
BTW: Local Notes are perfectly OK, so after running the Clean Up Notes Plugin all the Local Notes imported OK.
See attachment Bloggs Clean Up Notes.ged.
Armed with the above information I will update the Export Gedcom File Plugin for its Heredis mode to format Note Records as above so they get accepted by all Heredis variants.
So westey can rest assured that after switching to FH the Gedcom will transfer to iPad Heredis OK.

Re: Notes missing from exported GEDCOM
That's brilliant Mike. Thank you. So I need to download both the Clean Up notes and the Export Gedcom File plugins?
I can get on with trying to understand this program better now.

Westey,
If you are still using the free trial version the plugins won't run. But hopefully you have taken the plunge and bought the full version by now?
