Hi Forum
I have been using Ancestral Sources to rebuild from scratch my TMG imported database for reasons beyond explanation here. Having not fully understood the option settings for AS Method 1 in each case of the Source Type. I have found that unknowingly my GRO certificate reference numbers have been placed in the Source Text field 'Publication Information' where actually I would also like to see this in 'Where In Source' field.
Is there a way to modify the Source/Citation data to copy/paste this reference value such that all occurrences of this unique Source (Method 1 Sources) such that all Citations carry the updated 'Where In Source' value?
Even though I'm using Method 1 to create Unique Source records per event/place/individual I'm finding that I need to manually update each occurrence of the Citation to correct the above issue. I must admit that I thought Method 1 Sources gave you what I thought was a Master record that once updated/modified would retrospectively update all Citations of that unique source.
I hope I have explained that issue well enough.

Re: Modify Source Citation - Where In Source Field
Method 1 Sources put all details in the Source record.
It does not use Citation fields for the reason you have discovered.
Each and every Citation is distinct, even when referencing the same Source record.
This is why you have to make multiple updates to edit the Where within Source fields.
BTW: The distinct Citations are sometimes useful. The Assessment can indicate the relevance of the Source for each specific Fact, because some information in a Source is contemporary, but other information is not. e.g. Death Certificate date of death is contemporary 1st hand info, but date of birth is probably not.
To make GRO details visible in each Citation, try adding those details to Source Title.
In AS you can customise the Title in Tools > Options to include the Ref data.
To copy the Publication Info to each Citation Where within Source field would require a Plugin, but I don't recommend that approach.

Re: Modify Source Citation - Where In Source Field
Hi Mike
Many thanks for the reply. Yes AS has an option to do what I want but I discovered this after creating around 60+ Citations =, so just need to back track a little and manually correct those having now set the option on.
Is there a Source where Cited feature in FH? That given a Source would list out where it is Cited.
