Media List
Hello, I am sorry to be so basic but when I was reading about adding media it said that people liked folders for photos, certificate images, census images etc. I have looked in the topics but cannot find how to make these folders and as my media list is growing it would be useful to separate them. Thanks Ann

Re: Media List
Ann, I have moved this to the General Usage Forum that is more appropriate.
There is advice in how_to:organise_your_files|> Organise Your Files and how_to:changing_external_file_links|> Changing External File Links.
Before doing anything else use File > Backup/Restore > Full Backup just in case things go wrong.
Practice with the Family Historian Sample Project and rearrange its Media.
Initially you will need to decide how to organise your folders.
First use Windows/File Explorer to create New Folders within the Media folder, and Move the files.
Then in FH use Tools > External File Links to re-map the Media Record links to refer to the new folder structure. If you have only moved existing files into new foders then the Auto Repair Links button should do the job.
Thereafter, when adding new Media files, in the Add Media to Project dialogue do NOT accept the <Default Location within Project Folder>, but use the droplist to choose an existing sub-folder, or click Location... and use the Make New Folder button.
BTW: ancestralsources:index|> Ancestral Sources helps you organise Media naming conventions when adding the more common Source Citations with supporting Documents.

Re: Media List
Thank you very much for the help. I will experiment with the set project first. Regards Ann
