Records List - Places & Keyboard Shortcuts

Is there a way to go directly from an item on the places list to the entry or individual that uses that place? I can see that the number of links is there, but not who they are...
Also
Is there a keyboard shortcut to go directly to the last name of the Records | Individuals tab ?
Thanks in advance
Marlene

Use Tools > Work with Data > Places. Select the place in the list and click Where Used. This will give you a result set in the Query window, listing the records which use the place and the context (fact) where it is used. Click on the Record (Individual's name) to open the Property box for that individual, or double click in the place name cell to to get the focus on the particular fact which uses it.
Alternatively, in the Records window select the place in question and use View > Record Links. This will give a list of records using the place, but not the exact facts.
The 'last name' in the Individuals tab of the Records window will vary depending on which column you have it sorted on. You can reverse the order by holding the Alt key while clicking on the column heading.

Thankyou Lorna - that is exactly what I need.
On the records | Individual tab I didn't explain myself clearly - I meat a keyboard shortcut to get quickly from any other workspace window to the Last Name Search box on the Records window rather than to a particular name.....

OK, I see. I don't know of any such keyboard shortcut, but I'm sure someone will tell us if it exists...

I can see that once int eh Records Window Ctrl + D will take you to the last name search box, but I would like to use the keyboard to reliably get tot he Records window in the first place.

Use the standard Windows alt+menu shortcut.
Thus hold down alt and pressing VRI in succession takes you to the Individual tab of the records window. Replacing the I by the other initials takes you to the appropriate tab in the records window.

Yes, the point is that there are 10 tabs in the Records Window, and many have a Search Filter, so there would have to be many such shortcuts to cater for all the possibilities.
David's suggestion is probably the best available.
BTW: To find where a record is used, the Where Used Record Links Plugin works for any selection of any type of record, and often lists supplementary fields in the Result Set. There are particular FH features that offer similar details, but only for one at a time and only for some record types.

Thank you David and Mike - my main search is for individuals so the Alt shortcuts will work well. I have to untrain my fingers to use Ctrl + F ! I will suggest to Calico Pie that a system of defining one's own shortcuts would be very valuable (or if someone has already suggested - endorse). Mike - your plug in is extremely functional and quick - thank you!

If you want to make your own keyboard shortcuts then have a look at AutoHotKey
https://autohotkey.com/
You can start simply just by recording keystrokes. Then, if you want, look at the script that's generated and see how you can program it to do all sorts of things.
