Wrong Parent for Child

Post by marilyn57 » 17 Apr 2016 20:02

I have an Thomas Turnock who married a second time after his first wife died, his son Arthur is attached to the wrong wife. Is there an easy way to swap the child to the correct mother. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would do this:

1) change the surname of the child you want to move so that it has an 'x' at the front - this will make it easy to identify later.
2) right-click the child and choose 'unlink'.
3) choose the correct marriage and click 'add child'...'link existing record'
4) type x into the surname box - you should see only the desired individual pop up - unless you have other surnames beginning with 'x'!
5) choose them...'OK'
6) remove the 'x' from their surname.

Hope this is some help!
