Hi
I reside in the county of Kent and via the counties libraries computers you can access amongst other things Ancestry and FindMyPast without having to paying a subscription.
Seeing that ‘smart hints’ are now available with FMP (in addition to MyHeritage) with the recent update to Family Historian to version 6.2, it set me thinking.
Today I went to my local library with my laptop, and after gaining access to the library’s WiFi, I opened my browser and logged onto the library system using details from my library card. (Card number and PIN number)
This gave me the same access to the library system (including FMP etc) as if I had logged on via one of the libraries hard wired desktops.
Going one step further, I fired up Family Historian and after a few minutes various smart hints appeared (both FMP and MyHeritage). I would point out that I do not have a subscription to either FMP or MyHeritage.
After opening a ‘smart hint’ from FMP, I found that I could click on the hint of interest (say a census) which opened the transcription page and then with a further click access the actual image.
So from now on instead of perhaps booking a library machine for an hour and accessing FMP and entering details about who I am researching, I can now gain certain information and fill in gaps using Family Historian and FMP for as long as I like when visiting the library.
Apologies if you already are aware of this, but I thought I would share this information......see what your local library has to offer.

Re: Family Historian, FMP and Libraries
That is excellent advice, Shiriki.
I know that many local libraries offer free Ancestry access, but did not know about free FindMyPast access.
Just remember to Accept or Reject each FMP 'hint' while you are still Signed In to FMP at the library so it it will no longer appear in the FH Focus Window, because you cannot make that choice at home without a FMP Sign In.
