This is "sort of" prompted by Changing focus person (13605) topic. I rarely use a focus window so was just doing some experimenting as I read this topic. I do NOT subscribe to My Heritage so was amazed to find that I got My heritage matches for some of the folks in a focus setting. And, of course, if clicked on, there were some suggested matches and then the offer to subscribe. What am I doing to illicit this and how do I turn if off? In fact, how do I ensure that I'm not hooked into the internet through FH? I do my research directly with the subscriptions that I have.
Thanks folks!

Re: FH Internet hooks
I have split this off into a new topic, because it is confusing to answer multiple questions in one thread.
The My Heritage hints in the Focus Window are a free search, and you opted to enable them when you installed FH V6. They can be disabled in Tools > Preferences > Internet Data Matches.
FH V6 is "hooked into the Internet" in various ways that are useful and cannot be disabled without disconnecting your PC from the Internet.
e.g.
The Map Window geocodes Place Lat/Longitude via the Internet.
The Internet command offers many ways to access the Internet.
The Help command has several links to the Calico Pie web site.
The Tools > Plugins dialogue downloads Plugins from the online Plugin Store.
Many Plugins link to resources via the Internet such as Help & Advice pages from the FHUG.

Re: FH Internet hooks
Thanks Mike for clarifying the internet connections. I do/did know the connection re updates and help so am not totally "out of it". Guess I just have my own long term pattern of research that seems to mostly work OK.
I try to keep current with the discussions here - am always amazed at the level of technical expertise. Those of us on the other end REALLY appreciate all the help provided. Kudos there!
