Removal of slashes to surname in Version 6.1.4

Post by philmcleod » 23 Mar 2016 08:49

The removal of the slashes does give a tidier appearance to the name field. However, when naming a person with (Snr) or (Jnr) at the end of the name to differentiate between grandfather, father and son, all with the same name, it was helpful. To achieve this now the slashes need to be put in manually, before and after the surname to prevent the (Snr) or (Jnr) being in capitals.
Perhaps an option for slashes on or off would have been helpful and could be considered in a future revision.

You can change that display option in: Tools > Preferences > Property Box

Interestingly, once the slashes are needed to delimit the suffix they remain displayed even if the Preference is returned to Installation Setting.

Thanks Mervyn, it would have been helpful if the upgrade information mentioned it could be an option although I suppose the words "by default" was meant to imply that. I personally find the slashes helpful
