upgrade to 6.1and reports
I went to print a report on one of my ancestors but FH prompted me to upgrade first to the new version which I happily did. I wish I hadnt! I don't know if it is just me or what, but the report I wanted is now listed under Publish rather than reports and the Group Family Sheet and Individual Sumary Report both become several pages of HUGE type and not much information. Where did all my lovely reports go? I thought I could save as a Word document and all would be ok but that just produced the same. If I zoom out I just get tiny versions of the page with huge type and little substance. Where has it all gone? I used to Save As rtf and I can see the nearest to this is saving as a text file as even the pdf is awful.
Help! Have I done something wriong?

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Further to the above, I now find my Records page has lost the column for spouse's name. This is so useful when several family members have identical names. I can't find the option to add this column - is it no longer available under the data options?

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Hello, sorry to hear about your problems. Can you tell us which version you upgraded from? And did you just install the upgrade over your existing version? Normally when you do that all your exisitng customisations are retained, so I am not sure what has gone wrong.
To restore the Spouse column in the records window, in the Configure Columns dialog scroll down to the bottom and select <other> and click the > symbol in the middle. The Expression you need is then INDI.~SPOU>NAME or INDI.~SPOU>NAME[2] for second spouse, etc.
I don't know why the text in you Reports is so large. It sounds as if the Report Options have somehow got changed but that should not happen with an upgrade. Try opening a report and then in Report Options click Installation Settings on the Format and Page Layout tabs. Does this correct the problem?

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Although it should work OK, I am always wary of a Program updating itself.
What I prefer to do is decline the update request, close FH, download the update from Calico Pie, and install that download.
That you say the command has changed from Report to Publish suggests you have upgraded from FH V4 or earlier, which is quite a jump. BTW: How did you purchase that upgrade, because it cannot be free.
Lorna's advice is all good, but the 2nd Spouse name Expression is %INDI.~SPOU[2]>NAME%

Yes, sorry I put the [2] in the wrong place. I don't think the % symbols are essential in this context - it works with or without them.
I notice you said
Have you at any time used the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings plugin? If so you could try uninstalling FH and reinstalling your previous version, then use the plugin to restore any customisations. (I think the plugin can only restore settings to the same version of FH as the one from which they were backed up. Mike may correct me on this.) Then with FH closed download and install the upgrade as Mike suggested.

You can still save as rtf. When you Save Report As... it is the third option, Word-Processor Document (RTF)...I used to Save As rtf and I can see the nearest to this is saving as a text file

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Lorna is correct again, and the Backup and Restore FH Settings Plugin will only work between identical FH versions. However, individual customisation files can often be restored from the backups to the ProgramData folder manually if necessary.

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Many thanks for the responses and tips. I am away from home at the moment but hope to have time soon to get things sorted.
I bought myself a brand new Version 6 to use on my new PC, managed to get my gedcoms working well and was finding my way around ok. It was on opening it up one day to look at my tree that it said version 6.1 was available and I used the website to download it and that is when things changed. I have certainly not tried using dubious upgrades.
I will post again when I have had a closer look at everything.

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
Have you produced any reports since you bought v6? As Mike said, the change from listing under Reports to listing under Publish came in after v4 so that is certainly nothing to do with the upgrade from v6 to v6.1.
When you installed v6 on your new PC did you transfer any customisations from your old PC? If not, and you had created any custom report styles they now need to be re-created. Admittedly that doesn't explain why the text is huge but installation settings should sort that out.

Re: upgrade to 6.1and reports
That move to a new PC with FH V6 would also explain the loss of the Spouse column in the Records Window.
To move everything use the how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide.
