Importing FH project creating in V4 to V6.1
I have not used FH since V4 and trying to import a FH project and get "an error occurred during file processing". I can open a GEDCOM file off the DVD. I can use explorer to view files in the project. Is it possible to open a V4 FH project in FH V6.1?

Yes, a V4 Project should open in V6.1 OK.
Could you give some more details, as usually V6 would be installed over V4, and the Projects should open without needing to 'import' anything.
Can you explain the process you are following to migrate from V4 to V6.
i.e. How did you install V6 and exactly what commands are you using?
What format is your V4 Project?
Does the Family Historian Sample Project open OK in V6?

You mention a DVD, if your project is current on the DVD, you will probably need to copy it over to your hard drive and then open it (it's also worth checking to make sure windows has not write protected the folder or it's contents once copied).

If the DVD used for backup was a "Read Only" Disc then all the files on it will have been changed to "Read Only" during the copying process and will have to be changed back to Read/Write once they are copied back to your Hard Drive before they can be processed again by Family Historian (or any other software). You can test that by right-clicking on the Gedcom File, select Properties and see if it identifies the file as "Read Only".

Well thanks to all. I always choose SW carefully and a key decision is the support from the user group.
Following your input I copied the files from the DVD preserving the directory structure and I now have the FH project including the linked media; saved me hours before re-starting my research.
To answer some of the Q's:
Windows 10 64 bit.
Fresh install of FH 6.0 followed by 6.1 download upgrade.
Original file was from FH4.x upgrade from FH 3.0
Thank you
Jonathan

Just to add the name I am researching is Brooks-Dowsett originating from Toppersfield, Essex, England. Base born child of Elizabeth Dowsett named as William Brooks-Dowsett of which I am a descendant.
