I love using Diagram Icons to provide visual clues to help fill in blanks where I don't have something but data *is* available.
Census information is a prime example. A well documented individual will appear in many censuses in their lifetime. (Providing they were born in an era of good record keeping and fireproof repositories.)
When I started this particular "census diagram" it was a vertical tree. And the icons lined up below the individuals diagram box, i.e. on the long edge. For someone with a long life, lots of references, it works out.
But I always work split screen, diagram on the left side, FamilySearch.org open in a window on the right side. What made more sense was to change the alignment of my tree, and I made it go left to right. This way I can scroll through individuals in a given time band/generation (to a good degree) by going up and down.
What I don't care for, though, is the icons are not attaching themselves to the long bottom anymore. They're now bunching up around the connector on the short side. Rather than a visually pleasing row of icons below the individual, I've got a clump of icons on the side of them.
Am I missing something, or are these icons only placed on the "output" edge?
Knowledge Base explains how to get them added to a diagram, but not how they are placed around the box. (There does not seem to be a option to keep them below regardless of tree orientation.)

I think your observation is accurate, so report your suggestion to Calico Pie Support and see if they are receptive to a change.

Thank you Mike. (Now I know I wasn't missing a setting or anything.)
