When I try to delete a project (following the instructions in help), the FH window whitens and FH locks up and I have to get Windows to close it. I am using Windows 7 on a desktop and the problem happens with FH 6.0 and 6.1.
Any suggestions?

Re: Deleting a project
That is unusual.
Does the Project you are trying to delete open normally?
At what stage does FH 'lockup':
Immediately after selecting More Tasks > Delete Project?
After clicking Delete All button in Delete Project window?
Exactly what form of FH 'lockup' occurs:
Does it say Family Historian Stopped Working?
Does it say Family Historian Not Responding?
Something else?

Re: Deleting a project
Are you using a PC which has been upgraded to Windows 10?
The upgrade sometimes "scrambles" the permissions on folders and can cause some very strange results.
Have you tried simply deleting the Project folder from within the Family Historian Projects folder, using a normal Windows explorer delete?

Jane:
I have moved the project folder from My Documents>Family Historian Projects to the Recycle Bin and that seems to do the trick - there is no reference to the deleted project when I reopen FH. Thank you.
Mike:
This happens after I click on Delete All
The project window and the whole FH window go much lighter - greyed out - and if I click anywhere in them (including the x at top right) I get a small window saying:
Family Historian has stopped working
Windows can check for a solution to the problem
and then the option to check online and close the program or just close it.
I have tried various ways of re-creating the problem and found that it seems to happen if I have never saved a backup file for the project but have made alterations to the project (and saved the gedcom file when asked to on closing the project in order to delete it).

Re: Deleting a project
How many files, mostly probably Media files, are you agreeing to Delete ?
If a significantly larger number, just wait for FH to finish.
I cannot think that using Backup, or not, can have any influence.
Does everything else work OK, especially Diagrams?

Re: Deleting a project
Only 8 files - I don't have any media in FH.
The Backup presence or absence does seem to be relevant in practice. My attempt at a theory is that FH has a switch of some kind which indicates whether any changes have been made since the the project was opened; when I ask it to delete the project it checks whether the switch is on and, if so, looks for a backup file (which it can't find).
