Two days ago bought and downloaded Family Historian after being a user of Family Tree Maker. This may seem very obvious but at the moment everytime I enter information about an individual in the notes in The Property Box next time I open up FH it has not saved! This has happened three times now. I have also pressed the Save icon. Am I missing something or am I being incapable!!!!!
thanks for any help

Re: Saving notes
Within the Property Box, what type of Note are you trying to add (viz. When you hit the Add Note button what option do you select)?

Re: Saving notes
I think that's where I'm going wrong because after writing the notes in the dropdown box I just press OK! Where is the choice?

Re: Saving notes
Hello, welcome to FHUG.
Where exactly in the Property box are you entering the note? Are you entering it in the note field associated with a particular fact on the Facts tab? Or in the note field displayed on the main tab? Or on the Notes tab?
The Notes tab will always display any notes attached to the individual as a whole (and the first of these notes will display in the note field on the Main tab.) However the Notes tab can also optionally display all the notes associated with particular facts. You can switch this extra display on and off by clicking on the 'calendar' icon at right hand end of the icons in the Notes tab tool bar. Have you perhaps switched off this display? Even if you have, the fact notes should still be visible in the Facts tab when you click each fact in turn.
Another possibility is that perhaps you have entered a note on the facts tab against the wrong fact by mistake, so it is not showing up against the correct fact. Try clicking each fact in turn to see if you can find it.
Edit: I wrote the above before seeing your second post. It sounds as if you are entering notes on the Notes tab, clicking Add Note first. From the drop down menu you have to select whether to add a note for the individual or for a couple or just a link to a Note record. You can add any number of notes in this way, and the beginning of the text of each note should show in a single line in the upper part of the Notes tab. If you then click on each in turn the full text will be displayed in the lower area.

Re: Saving notes
Have done just what you said Lorna, absolutely different from what I was doing! Came out, went in and my note was saved. Thank you so much. Away I go!

As a newcomer you should find how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers of interest, but do follow up all the links.
