Website Generation
Having just upgraded to V6, I am attempting to produce a website that looks as much like my live V3 website as possible.
I specifically use the "Individual Narrative" as the Primary Page type. I believe that I have found a discrepancy with regard to Spouse Parents, even though I have the "Spouse Parents" box unchecked.
For example, at the end of the narrative on the page of my great-grandfather :-
V3: Florence SMITH . She and Ernest BENSON had the following children:
V6: Florence SMITH was the daughter of George SMITH (1846-1914?) and Jemima COOK (1849-1917). She and Ernest BENSON had the following children:
I prefer the V3 output, which is why I have the option unchecked, but am I missing something in V6?

Re: Website Generation
I am actually using the pre-release FH V6.1.1 but it behaves exactly as FH V3 with regard to Narrative Reports and the Spouse Parents option.
How do you manage that Spouse Parents option, which is not in its Installation Settings state?
Do you just alter the Standard Individual Narrative Report options?
Or have you a Saved Custom Report Type dedicated to the Create a Website wizard?
When you run the wizard, at Step 3 - Choose Report Template, ensure you have chosen the correct Primary Report Type, then click Options button and check the Spouse Parents option.

Thanks, Mike, I do that. But I uncheck it because I do not want the spouse's parents showing as in my V3 example. When you run the wizard, at Step 3 - Choose Report Template, ensure you have chosen the correct Primary Report Type, then click Options button and check the Spouse Parents option.
Here are relevant screenshots :-

Re: Website Generation
Sorry, unfortunate choice of words - should have said inspect Spouse Parents option.
(I use the terms a tick and untick rather than check and clear.)
With the Spouse Parents option clear, my wizard produces FH V3 style Reports.
Since you are using the standard Individual Narrative report, if ever you use that Report elsewhere and reset to Installation Settings then the Spouse Parents option will become ticked. So unless you inspect it every time you run the wizard you can never be sure what the setting will be.
Therefore, you should clear the Spouse Parents option, and Save Report As > Custom Report Type > Individual Narrative (for Web, CD or DVD). Then use that Report type in the wizard Step 3 so you are sure the Spouse Parents option remains clear.

Great advice, thank you.tatewise wrote:Therefore, you should clear the Spouse Parents option, and Save Report As > Custom Report Type > Individual Narrative (for Web, CD or DVD). Then use that Report type in the wizard Step 3 so you are sure the Spouse Parents option remains clear.
I even reset all of the options to "Installation Settings" and started again.
However, it has still made no difference and even the standard "Individual Narrative" Report displays the spouse's parents

I am at a loss to explain your symptoms.
I've even reverted to FH V6.0.4 and cannot get it to go wrong.
Individual Narrative reports both via Publish > Narrative Reports and Publish > Create a Website wizard then its View Website button, always honour the Spouse Parents option as it did in FH V6.1 and FH V5.
If I use the Family Historian Sample Project and focus on Anthony Edward MUNRO [1] then with the Spouse Parents option ticked they say:

Re: Website Generation
Okay, I may have found a bug.
(1) With "Spouse Parents" unticked and "Spouse Events/Attrs" unticked I get the following :-
(2) But with "Spouse Parents" unticked and "Spouse Events/Attrs" ticked I get the following :-
Of course, the result in (2) is what I require but without having to display spouse events and attributes.

Re: Website Generation
Yes, you could argue that.
I have been doing some sofware archaeology.
You are absolutely correct regarding FH V3.0, and in FH V5.0 it is as you now describe in FH V6.0, but I have not yet checked FH V6.1.
So I suggest you report the problem to Calico Pie via http://www.family-historian.co.uk/suppo ... t-overview + Contact Support link, and cross-refer to this FHUG posting.
