Media display problem
How do you do a "cache refresh"?
I had to rename a media file and I could no longer get the thumbnail to display. Is one able to refresh the FH cache?

Re: Media display problem
Will, I have started new thread for this new topic.
What is displaying?
If it is a white box with an X, looking a bit like an envelope, then it is not the thumbnail cache that is broken, but the Media file link.
If you rename a Media file then you must make the change in two places.
1) Edit the Linked File field in the Media record within FH.
2) Rename the file in the Project's Media sub-folder using Windows/File Explorer.
You can combine the two into one as follows:
Open the Property Box of the Media record.
Click on the [...] edit icon to the right of the Linked File field.
This will open a Select file dialog in which to rename the file, select it, and click Open bottom right.
That will update the Linked File field, and you have finished.

Re: Media display problem
Thank you.
Well, I deleted the "ThumbCache.dat" file and the thumbnail displayed correctly. I was just hoping that there was a function within FH to do it.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I'm loving V6 after 10 years on V3

You are correct Will, there should be.
Does anyone else know if there is a technique?

There is the "official safe" way as option 1 via Disk Cleanup in this link, I suspect similar to what you used:

Re: Media display problem
No Jim, here we are talking about the specific FH V6 Project folder \<projectname>.fh_data\Cache\ThumbCache.dat file.
It might be possible to update the cache via Tools > Preferences > General tab Advanced button Thumbnail Images settings.

Re: Media display problem
Easiest way to refresh the thumbcache is to use Windows file explorer and delete the file. It will be rebuilt upon next opening FH.
