FTM to FH

Post by chrisg » 07 Jan 2016 23:35

I am evaluating FH in view of Ancestry's decision not to support FTM in the future. Although I only downloaded the free trial a couple of days ago I am having problems in getting to grips with the interface.

Is there a tutorial book that I can purchase for FH? I consider that I need to start to learn this software from the base roots despite researching my family and using FTM for over ten years.

Can anyone help please.

Hi,

Welcome to the user group.

There are several places you can get information. On the FHUG website there is an extensive knowledge base that can be accessed at how_to:index|> Family Historian.

In particular see the help for new users at how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers.

In the program itself, there is quite a bit of help if you use the HELP option in the menu bar.

The program also comes with a PDF file called Getting The Most From Family Historian which is very detailed, but I'm not sure if it comes with the trial version. Check your Family Historian folder to see if it is there.

You will find a pdf version of the book (version 5, yet very similar to v6) at:

http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... ad-archive

At the web page, select the Book tab. You will find both the book and tutorial files available.

Best,
