Internet Search V6.1

I have been using 'Search the Internet' for some time but today it has decided to cause FH to cease working.
This only seems to be a problem on searching 'Find My Past' I am using FH ver 6.1. Any ideas anyone?

What exactly do you mean by "cause FH to cease working"?

Error messages? Other things work, but not 'Search the Internet' for 'FindMyPast'?

If you check Pre-release of version 6.1 (13143) there are some intermittent Internet problems reported.

BTW: Please click the User Control Panel link at top of this FHUG web page, and on its Profile tab enter your Family Historian Version so it appears to the right of your postings.

I get the error msg 'FH has stopped working' so no alternative but to close.

If you need to get it working, then perhaps go back to FH V6.0.4 as FH V6.1 is a pre-release and appears to have bugs.
You may have to uninstall V6.1 before installing FH V6.0.4, or even go back to your original V6.0 installation file.

But please add your problem to the Pre-release of version 6.1 (13143) thread.

I'm also experiencing the same crashing with Internet Search on version 6.04, Windows 10. This just started over the holidays.

I've heard this may be related to an update from Microsoft that was released on Dec 27th.

There's another product with integrated searching which is exhibiting the same issues on searches.
It's doesn't appear to be an issue with FH.

The other product had a posting that Microsoft updated "Shockwave Flash Object" in IE.
As a temp fix they suggested opening Internet Explorer, select the 'gear', and then select 'manage add-ons'
Then under "Show" select 'All Add-ons'
Find "Shockwave Flash Object" and disable it.

I found this to fix some search sites but not all. Apparently Microsoft is aware that they've broken apps.
Just passing this on.

I found a machine without the update and I've tested the other product and it now works fine.
I'll have to install FH on this machine and test if the issue also goes away for FH.

It will at least help to try and track down the problem.
