Mike, I agree its a shame that it doesn't have the same options as Add Source, it would make things a little easier. At the very least, the option to add media at that stage would be useful instead of having to open the source record up separately to do this.tatewise wrote:Yes, the New Source Record dialog is a continuing disappointment.
Although it looks very similar to the Source record Property Box - Main tab, the fields lack most of the features. None of them have the [...] edit box, and Type does not auto-complete.
I cannot understand why it does not use the same blank Property Box dialog as when the Add > Source command is used.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
I did not originally disable the MyHeritage link on installation but I did subsequently disable it in Tools> Preferences> Internet Data Matches and found 6.1 had re-enabled it. However I think that is the only one of my Preferences settings that was affected.johnmorrisoniom wrote:The update to 6.1 has re-enabled the My Heritage hints without asking (I had disabled it). Surely the installer should offer the same option as a clean install.?
I have not had any problem with any of these. Has anyone else?tatewise wrote: 2. Tools > Plugins > Plugin Store button does not work - nothing happens!!!
Actually, several web access commands do NOT work:
Help > Online Tour, Quick Start>On Web, Family Historian on Web, Tech Support, User Groups.
One of the oddest features of 6.1 seems to be that different users are seeing different effects. e.g. some Tools>Preferences settings have beed changed, but not always the same ones. And the odd filtering behaviour is inconsistent between different users and on different days. (I have just repeated some of the tests on the Sample Project and get different results from those a couple of days ago, although I have done nothing with the Sample Project in the interim).

Yes, very strange, as all the internet buttons such as Plugin Store are working today.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
Found another problem with 6.1 (Or maybe it is just me).
I quite often use the media filtering, but now FH crashes if I type in more than 4 characters in to the title field.
It does this on both my computers, but only on my large project (Over 4000 media) and not on my small project or the sample project..

The Enhancements for Family Tree Maker users are to be applauded, but I think it should produce a Result Set or Log File of the 'corrections' so the user can verify them.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
Just for the record I have successfully installed FH6.1 (first time) on a machine running Windows 10 (version 1511) and Trusteer Rapport (or Endpoint Protection as it is now called).
I have not tried everything yet but all the web links seem to work and I get the same results as reported with filtering.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
Hmmmmm, all this makes interesting reading.
Does this being a pre-release mean that there will be some/much re-jigging of the items discovered here before 6.1 is officially released, or is it a case of 6.1 is set in stone and the pre-release is merely an administrative convenience or a courtesy to those who already use FH6?
In the former case I will sit on my hands and wait for the final release with issues identified here sorted out
; in the later case I can join the throng.... and try to cope.
Any ideas anyone?

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
The Calico Pie Pre-Release Update page directs users to provide feedback in this thread, so I presume Simon will monitor the feedback messages received and arrange for any possible changes to be incorporated prior to release of the 'final' 6.1x Update version.
I was tempted to say 'assume' rather than 'presume' but was mindful of a former 'boss' of mine who was fond of saying that: "to assume is to make an ASS out of U and and ASS out of ME". Always a timely reminder to myself, when analysing my family history sources.
Installing the pre-release version of the Update shouldn't cause a problem as the final version will no doubt overwrite it on release anyway; and the more informed feedback provided the better.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
Over the last 2 days I have had three incidences of 'Family Historian Has Stopped' which results in having to exit and restart and on every occasion it was whilst running a standard gedcom export of a handful of records. This was after inputting several (20+) marriage events or baptism events using Ancestral Sources each with a media item attached. There has been no issue with the inputting. On restarting Family Historian I have been able to do the gedcom export that previously caused the programme to crash.
Hope this helps with fault diagnosis.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
I've just noticed that the dates in the "Updated" column of the Records Window are in mm/dd/yyyy format. Surely this isn't how it used to be? Possibly a related issue: when the Map Window opens, the focus is on the USA (though I've managed to fix this). Obviously, I'm in the UK, using Windows English (UK) settings, and the FH Tools > Preferences > International setting is UK, but somehow 6.1 seems to have got confused.

I'm not seeing either of the problems mentioned by RogerF, above. It may be worth checking Region and Language in Windows Control Panel.

Posting on Wed Jan 06, 2016 in Is V5 to V6 upgrade worthwhile? (12468) says the Help for Records Window search Filter still refers to FH V5 searches and needs updating.

We have now brought out an update to 6.1, which is 6.1.1. Please post any comments about that version to the new thread "New Pre-release: 6.1.1" at http://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... 233#p65532.
