Name shown with Suffix, in general

It seems to me, unless there's a toggle I haven't found, that the name suffix doesn't appear in the windows, just the reports.

Particularly in early colonial times, a lot my ancestors are referred to as "of Someplace" to distinguish them from someone else of the same name, probably their father who didn't relocate.

I.e. to be able to see at a glance John Clark of Marblehead versus John Clark of Rehoboth, his son.

Is this something I can't do at the moment?

I've used the Suffix part of the name a lot, to identify location from, title, etc. (I know there is a different title part, but that doesn't show up either.)

I'm just curious.

Do you mean in the title bar of the property box for an individual?

If so, go to menu Tools / Preferences / Property Box and click the "Captions..." button.

I have "Individual: %INDI% [=RecordId()]" in the caption entry for the Individual property box, which may be the default or not. That just shows a name and the record-id. If you click "Insert Data Ref" and expand the Name option, you will find several options. %INDI.NAME[1]:SUFFIXED% could replace %INDI%, for instance.

I use the following for the caption:

=CombineText(" ",%INDI.NAME.NPFX%,"")=CombineText(" ",%INDI.NAME:GIVEN%,"")=CombineText(" ",%INDI.NAME:MIDDLE%,"")=CombineText(" ''",%INDI.NAME.NICK%,"''","")=CombineText(" ",%INDI.NAME:SURNAME%,"")=CombineText(" ",%INDI.NAME.NSFX%,"") [=RecordId()]

This gives me the prefix and the suffix as well as any nick names.

%INDI.NAME:ADORNED_FULL% [=RecordId()] will give you all you ask for, and the same as Bill's except for Nickname.

If you want Title too then use:
=CombineText(,%INDI.TITL%," ")%INDI.NAME:ADORNED_FULL% [=RecordId()]

BTW: Stewart, please click the User Control Panel link at very top of this web page, and in its Profile tab set your Family Historian Version so it appears to the right of your postings.

Thanks for the ideas. I have updated my Caption for the Property Box. (With the addition of nickname, and now I can add title too.) The info is there, just a bit subtle for me still.

I can't make a similar appearance change to the Focus Window, however, can I? (I don't see a "captions" entry in the Focus Window like I see for Property Box.)

(And my profile should indicate my version now. (V6.))

At this time there is no way to change the name display in the focus window. I wish there was. I think this is the best that can be done.

Bill is essentially correct, but here are a couple of suggestions.

Currently, the Focus name is the Main tab Name box content.
So instead of using the more (+)... Names/Titles dialog Name Suffix box, enter suffixes like this:
Name: John /Clark/ of Marblehead

To show other names/titles they could be replicated in the Main tab Note box, which is shown in the Focus window below the Born: & Died: entries, but will also appear in Reports in the Notes section.
