Individual Narrative Report saved to rtf

Post by LarryC » 12 Dec 2015 18:15

The attached
Individual Narrative.rtf
(16.47 KiB) Downloaded 150 times
shows an unwanted blank 1st page, the subject's children text in unwanted italics, and that text along with the following sources all in unwanted "cells".

Does FH incorrectly format the rtf file for an Individual Narrative Report and if so, is there a way to produce a properly formatted rtf copy of the report?

I don't normally include Fact details for the children on a Narrative Report but when I do, their details are shown in Italics on the screen (viz. within FH) so I don't think this is a FH->RTF issue but is probably by design. I also get a "blank" first page when saving to RTF - this is just a Page Feed so can easily be removed within MsWord when the file is opened (not ideal I know, but again I suspect it is by design!).

(Blank Page)
The 1st blank page is governed by FH Report > Options > Page Layout > Start records on new page.
So it is either a bug, or probably the only way to style every record heading to start on a new page.
But if you only have one record, the Option above will remove the blank.

(Child text italics)
That is the standard and there seems to be no option to change it.
That text can be omitted altogether using FH Report > Options > Main > Child Events/Attributes.

(Cells)
As far as I know, table cells are the best way to achieve tabulated columns with horizontally aligned sections. Larry, do you know another way of achieving that?

May I ask why you need an RTF report? Do you intend to do a lot of editing? Most users prefer PDF for publishing reports.
