Handling adoptive and birth parents

Post by maggiemm » 30 Oct 2015 08:39

Hi - I have an ancestor for whom I have information on both birth and adoptive parents. My problem is that at the moment her adoptive parents seem to be set as the default whereas I would like her birth parents to be the default. When I click on her box the "Select family" panel come up and I can highlight which set of her ancestors to display - which is fine - but if I have clicked on one of her descendants boxes then only the default - the adoptive - parents are displayed and I would prefer this to be the birth parents. (Actually it would be better if a "Select family" panel were to come up in this case as well but I can see that would be more difficult to arrange!). In the top right-hand corner of the "Select family" panel there is the symbol for changing priority (the pair of curly arrows) but this is greyed out and I can't find a way of bringing it to life. But even if I was able to use that feature I don't know if that would change the default or just work for the display I'm currenty asking for. Can anybody help?

In the property box select the All tab. You will see two sets of Parents Family. Select one of them and a small black arrow will appear in the top right corner of that window. Click it to change the order to the one you want. The first in the list is the default family.
