Pictures
v6 WIN7
When I "create a website" in the "publish" tab each photograph appears with its "title".
Is it possible to also display "picture note" on the website? If so, how?
For example, the photo might have the title Low Family and that title shows as a caption under the photo on the website.
However my picture note might say "From left, Bill, Bob, Jim, Jane, taken at Bill's wedding in 1888" and I would like that information to be shown on my website.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Pictures
Have you ticked the 'Use Note as Caption' option for the pictures in question?
When you are viewing the Media tab of the Property box for the record to which the picture is linked, double-click on the thumbnail image to open the Edit Media Item box. You will see two note fields. The note field immediately below the Title is a note that relates to the picture itself, regardless of what record(s) it is linked to, and that note only appears in a Multimedia report. However the Note field at the bottom can be different for each link, and that is the one which will appear in individual or family reports if you click Use Note as Caption. This works for Reports, so I assume it also works for website generation, but I admit I have not tried it.
If you want the picture Title to appear as well, you will have to include the Title in the Note.

Re: Pictures
Thanks, Lorna.
Your suggestion works a treat.
I was unaware of the untitled box at the bottom of the Edit Media Item box.
Nor had I understood, "Use Note as Caption." I had been trying, unsuccessfully, to use the options in "Create a Website" to show the Picture Note.
I have written all my notes in the "Picture Note" field. I don't suppose there is a way, with the click of a button I can either:
*Cut and paste, or
*Copy
All "Picture Notes" to the untitled box on the bottom?
It would be very cumbersome to do that fore each of the 5,400 photos I have in FH.
Thanks, again.

Re: Pictures
I'm sure it could be done with a simple plugin. I don't write plugins myself but perhaps someone will offer.
Do you have any pictures where you have a number of links, e.g. 'frame' links to different faces in the picture? The purpose of the second note field is that you can have a different note for each link, so it can say something different for each person whose face is linked to. If you do a bulk copy into that field from the main picture note you need to be aware that the same note will appear for all the links. In your example, it wouldn't make sense for the caption to say "From left, Bill Bob....etc" under a picture of just one of the framed faces. If you don't have multiple links like that it won't matter.

Re: Pictures
Lorna,
Good point about the frames. I do have some frames but it would be a lot easier to correct the occasional frame than to move every single title note, manually.
Since I don't know a plug in from a wall plug, I'll hope that some other helpful soul comes along with a master solution.
Thank you.

Re: Pictures
I could help with the Plugin, but not until I get back from holiday in a week or so.

Mike, have a great holiday.
If, upon your return, you could help, that would be great.
Just remember that I am not very technologically proficient.

Re: Pictures
Please find the ATTACHMENT Copy Media Note to Link Note Captions Plugin Version 0.1 Dated 29 Oct 2015.
It is advisable to use File > Backup/Restore > Small Backup before running Plugin just in case!
The Plugin will copy each Media Picture Note to all its empty Link/Note Captions, and produce a Result Set of all the changes. The Picture Note is retained so that even if all the Captions are subsequently manually changed the original Picture Note still exists.
To cancel all changes use Undo > Plugin Updates after running Plugin but before closing FH.

Re: Pictures
Mike,
Just a thought: The purpose of copying the note across is to enable the note to be used as a caption, so I imagine 'Lowfamily' would like to have the Use Note as Caption ticked as well, although perhaps not in the case of Frame links.

Re: Pictures
Good point Lorna, so perhaps Lowfamily could comment?
AND perhaps the Picture Note should NOT be copied to Frame Link/Notes at all?
The ATTACHMENT Copy Media Note to Link Note Captions Plugin Version 0.2 Dated 29 Oct 2015 implements both the above concepts.
i.e.
If a Face Frame or Use Note as Caption already exists, then the Picture Note is NOT copied to that Link/Note.
But if the Picture Note is copied, then the Use Note as Caption option gets ticked.

Re: Pictures
Many thanks to Lorna and, particularly, tatewise.
By installing the plugin v 0.2, the notes which I had made in Picture Note were automatically repeated in the unnamed box at the bottom of the Edit Media Item and, thence, appeared on my personal website, after I had created a new Publish>Create a Website.
This was done with just a click, or two, by me and I don't even know what a plugin is--I just followed tatewise's instructions.
I apologise that it has taken me so long to respond, with thanks, but my personal website had crashed (unrelated, but at about the same time as previous posts) and it is only today that I am, again, able to access it and confirm that the captions actually appear on the website.
Thank you so much for your help.
