Editing Role in Witness Details

Post by plantheaven » 17 Sep 2015 11:15

Hi,
I have started to use the new witness icon and accompanying boxes. It has taken me a few attempts to get the codes right in the sentences but perseverance has enabled me to get what I want. However, I wish to change the Role these are attached to but cannot seem to find a way to edit these. For example: Informant on death certificate to Present at death.

Hi Jacqui,
Using Tools > Fact Types and its Fact Definition window click the Roles button and everything can be changed via the Edit button, so please clarify exactly what you cannot edit.

Hi Mike,

When you click on the witness icon and then then 'witnesses' a box appears. Once I have selected a person the next box shows 'role' which originally showed 'witness' and 'create new role type...' Having created a new 'role type' I wish to change the wording. I have tried going to 'Tools' and 'Fact Types' to be confronted with the 'Fact Types' box which does not show the 'Role Type' I created.
Yes, I know, me and my inability to see the obvious as usual but it really isn't there :?

Sorry, I assumed you were using Tools > Fact Types to create the Witness Role definitions.

So use Tools > Fact Types and in your case select the Death Event then click the Edit button top right.

This opens its Fact Definition window, and clicking the Roles button allows its Witness Roles to be edited.

I would advise you become familiar with the capabilities of Tools > Fact Types and adjust all your Fact Event/Attribute and Witness Role definitions there.

Thank you Mike. I was looking in the wrong place as I expected it to show in the Fact Definitions box rather than opening the Death fact. Told you I was looking in the wrong place as usual. I am afraid this poor old woman should not be let out on her own sometimes
