Showing Widow Source

Post by janefrances » 08 Sep 2015 18:03

I have a death certificate of a married lady and it states she was a widow, and gives her husband's name. I would like to show this as a source linked to her husband, how would I go about this please? I don't have her husbands date of death. Many thanks

Create a Death Event for her husband, and since at the moment you know nothing better, set the Date to a range Before his widow's date of death, then cite the Source as normal. If you have any earlier records for him, proving he was alive, then you could use a Between range date until better info is available.

However, you should be able to search the records and find his Death GRO Index and obtain the Certificate, and update the Death Event details from that.
