NORTH AMERICAN USERS

Post by Jerry Oliver » 16 Aug 2015 23:04

MY EARLIER REQUEST TO CONTACT WEST COAST USA USERS RESULTED IN INFORMATION THAT MOST USERS WERE IN THE UK. SO, I WILL BROADEN MY SEARCH AND ASK IF THERE ARE ANY NORTH AMERICAN USERS IN THE PACIFIC OR MOUNTAIN TIME ZONES WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO ASSIST A NEW USER BY EITHER PHONE (MY DIME) OR EMAIL? MY PROBLEM IS THAT I AM 8 TIME ZONES AWAY FROM THE UK. WHEN I HAVE A QUERY AT NOON, IT IS 8PM IN THE UK.

SORRY ABOUT THE ALL CAPS, MY EYESIGHT IS POOR.

I am sorry you have not attracted any assistance in the USA.

As I said before, it might help if you gave some clues about what help you need.

Remember, this user group is run by volunteers and does not close.

If your 'working day' is from 8am to 8pm then apart from the last 4 hours that overlaps with the UK 4pm to midnight, when many users are online. Often a Forum dialogue is actually much quicker than Email, and better than phone because screenshots can be attached.

Jerry,

Well, it has taken me a bit to locate my 'old' login name and password from a couple years ago. It has been a while since I've checked this board. Meaning that while I have FH6 (I've maintained a licensed copy of FH since version 2) I am still trying to decide which software to use. Or, perhaps since I retired from Silicon Valley's software industry half a dozen years ago (I now live in Western Washington state) I just like to review the different approaches to genealogy software design.

That said, I am not sure of just what assistance you need, nor whether I can provide that help. However, you now have a 'contact' on the Pacific Coast, so please ask away.

Best,

Denise Moss-Fritch

Jerry,

I will be returning from a trip on August 31st and would be happy to help in any way that I can at that time. I live in Washington near Seattle. I'll check back here at that time to see how things are going for you. I have always had great success getting my questions answered here in the forums. Don't be shy about asking them here. You will typically get an answer very quickly... usually in less than 24 hours and often much sooner than that.

Bill
