Places truncated correction
I've been re researching some of my tree and found that when I entered places like Greenwich, Greater London, England, the latter part has been cut off so it says Eng instead of England. Is there a way of checking all my places in order to correct them please?

Re: Places truncated correction
Hello John, I have moved this topic from the Plugins forum to the General forum, as you don't need to use a plugin for this.
I am not sure why the last part of the place name would have been truncated: perhaps it was just a typing error? However you only need to correct the name of a Place Record once and all instances of its use will automatically change.
Use Tools > Work with Data > Places. Select a place you wish to change, and click the Edit button on the right. This will open the View/Edit Place Details box. To change the place name you will then need to double-click in the Place field at the top of this box to open the Edit Place Name box. (This extra stage is necessary because FH has to check there is not already a Place record with the new name. No two Place records can have exactly the same name.) If all your places have been entered in the style of your example, with comma separated parts, you will find you can click on the column headings to sort by part. So for example you could sort all the places whose third part is 'Eng' together.
You can also access the Place Records in the Records window (use View > Record Lists > Places). Clicking on a record in this list will open its Property box, where again you will need to double-click in the Place field to open the Edit Place Name box.

Re: Places truncated correction
That's super, Lorna, and now I can merge same addresses as well which tidies the program up nicely. Well worth going through the edit places list to check for the rest of our FH users.
Thank you very much.
