* Linking a census image to family members
Linking a census image to family members
I have used Ancestral Sources to enter census info. including a picture of the census form. In FHv6 under the Facts' tab for each individual the census fact is present but there is no icon under the 'More' column to indicate a picture/multimedia of the census is present, so I have linked one using the 'Show Media' button. Do I now have to manually do this individually for each member of the family on the census or is there a much quicker way. Can it be done from the other side i.e. the media image by selecting and linking family members in bulk to the media. I can see the ones I've done manually under the linked media but cannot reproduce the correct link format i.e. with Census dd mmmm yyyy under the 'Detail' column (all I seem to be able to do is add a thumbnail of the image onto the individual on the tree.

Re: Linking a census image to family members
The default convention with Ancestral Sources is for each family member's Census Event to cite the one Source Record holding all the Census details, which has the image of the Census form linked to its Media tab. AS has done all that for you.
This technique avoids all the duplication that you are performing, and is fundamental to this Method 1 mode of Source Citations. The same technique is used for Birth, Marriage, and Death events and their Source Records.
See the ancestralsources:index|> Ancestral Sources tutorials for worked examples.
BTW: There will be an image icon in the Facts tab More column against the Census event if in the Show Media button you tick the Include Source Record Media option.

Re: Linking a census image to family members
I've been using AS to link census images to census events but realise that I've linked the wrong image in a couple of instances. How do I unlink the problem image as it doesn't show under the individual's media tab which would give me the ability to unlink it using the red cross button?

Re: Linking a census image to family members
As explained previously, the Census Media image is linked to the Census Source record not the Individual records.
So from any Census Event, follow the Citation to the Census Source record.
Alternatively, in the Records Window on the Sources tab, find the Census Source record.
In the Census Source record Property Box open the Media tab and delete/unlink the wrong image and add the correct image.
See the ancestralsources:ancestral_sources_tutorial_entering_census_facts|> Ancestral Sources Tutorial ~ Enter Census Facts especially ancestralsources:tutorial:census:examine_family_historian|> Ancestral Sources Tutorial ~ Enter Census ~ (7) Examine Family Historian which explains that the Media image is linked to the Source record.

Thanks for you patience Mike, I'd been looking in the wrong area and also put the wrong terms in the FHUG search box.
