Check for Errors

Post by BrianP » 24 Jul 2015 22:44

I seem to recall that here is a faciilty on Family Historian 5 to examine the data and report on errors such as Baptism-before-Birth, Age-at-Marriage, Died-before-Married etc. but I cannot remember how to do it nor can I find any apparently relevant menu items. Can anyone please remind me?

I believe the feature you are thinking of is enabled/disabled in Tools > Preferences > General tab Warn of Possible Errors on Data Entry. Click the Help button for a full explanation.

However, as it says, it is a check on data entry, not a report that can be produced later.

There is the FH function =GetDataWarning() that could be used to construct a Query to run the checks.

But the simple way to check existing data is to run the Show Project Statistics Plugin which uses that function.
Use the Update Statistics button then Close & Report.
Among other things the Result Set reports the sort of errors you mention.

These would normally come about from data entered prior to FH V5 or imported from another genealogy product.

You maybe thinking of FT Analyser, which isn't actually part of FH, but loads the FH Gedcom into it and gives similar reports to those you mentioned.

Yes, see fhugdownloads:contents:family_tree_analyzer|> Utility ~ Family Tree Analyzer and use its Data Errors tab.

The Export Gedcom File Plugin has export options designed for (FTA) Family Tree Analyzer.
