Sounds like a good idea to me Jim! Let FH users tell FH how they are entering metadata, i.e. tell FH in Media Preferences to use EXIF or IPTC, user's choice, if one way doesn't work for them they need to choose the other option. Is that what you meant?
Yes, ideally, as much choice as possible, perhaps a display of items available with tick boxes. But in practice it would be a matter of how much effort Calico was willing to put into it. But as with many things programing, seemingly simple things can be difficult and vice versa, but no harm in asking.

FYI,
I have been trying to do the same thing as Gordon H but I have been unable to get either date or keyword to load during media imports. I have Windows 7 and FHv6.2.7.
I did the upgrade from v5 running as as administrator and have even tried running FH as an administrator - no difference in outcome.
If this feature is too hard to get fixed for folks like Gordon or myself maybe an update query of some sort would be an easier option?
(Also noted a slightly annoying issue when I was deleting the media records - it doesn't actually delete the file when I select "Delete Multimedia Record")

Ronnie, have you ticked Tools > Preferences > Media > Copy Image Tag Values to the Media Record?
As a general rule in FH when a link is deleted the item linked to is NOT deleted.
So for example if you delete a Citation link to a Source record, the record is NOT deleted even if it has no Links.
Similarly, when you delete a Media record, or delete or change the File link, then the file itself is NOT deleted.
FH does not know if the file may have other purposes, so it fails safe and keeps the file.
Use the Check for Unlinked Media Plugin to delete those unlinked files.

Mike,
Yes, I did have that option ticked, and the point about fail safe operation is fair - I will check out the plugin...
Thanks
