Marking media as private

I use FH and TNG for my genealogy research and was wondering if there is a way to mark media as private in FH so I can have TNG import it as private also. Right now I have to open each media file in TNG to mark it private. Other than that FH imports great into TNG.

Do you export your GEDCOM & Media to TNG using the Export Gedcom File Plugin?

If not, then I suggest you do, because it offers several useful benefits. See its Help & Advice pages for details.

If the Media were automatically assigned to a TNG PRIVATE Media Collection would that satisfy your needs?

If so, then the next version of the Export Gedcom File Plugin will allow that by using FH Media Keywords.

See A couple Export Gedcom File questions (12716) that has a prototype of the next version of the Plugin.

I use your gedcom export which works great. What I was wanting was to add a private check box to add media and have it export using your plugin. I know I'll need to modify TNG to use the flag which should be simple to do.

You cannot add a Flag to Media record, but you can add a Keyword such as PRIVATE, which is essentially he same concept.

(Can TNG add Flags to Media records, as I though they only applied to Individual records?)

There is a Keyword Update Plugin that allows Keywords to be bulk changed on a selection of Media.

Then the Export Gedcom File Plugin (V2.1) will add the _TYPE PRIVATE tag to each Media record.

This should allow a PRIVATE Media Collection to be established in TNG.

See plugins:help:export_gedcom_file:tng_the_next_generation#import_details|> Export Gedcom File ~ (TNG) The Next Generation > Import Details and to try the Plugin in advance of publication in the Plugin Store use the Attachment in Re: A couple Export Gedcom File questions.
