Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
I need to somehow add a pdf document (or an individual page) as a source but cannot convert it to a jpg as suggested in previous posts. Cornwall Family History Society transcribed records are only available in an Adobe SECURED format that prevents any copying, printing or editing of any sort. (This is the only FHS I have come across that do this, even though you still have to buy the document)
In FH 6, trying to create as a Multimdia object from file fails with message "make sure the object is in the system registry". Trying to create a new Multimedia Object causes a lockup.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to do this in FH6 or suggestions of how to get a page from a SECURED pdf converted to jpg

Re: Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
You could use the Windows snipping tool to take a screenshot of the PDF. It's probably OK if the image is only for personal use, but do check the Cornwall FHS 'small print', as you may be violating their terms and conditions.

Re: Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
Presumably you can display the SECURED PDF document on screen via Adobe Acrobat Reader or one of the many PDF viewers.
While on screen use the fhugdownloads:contents:utility_windows_snipping_tool|> Windows Snipping Tool to capture an image copy.

Re: Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
as mentioned before, not sure of the legality, but I think there are "unlockers", just do a google on something like "remove security from pdf files"
e.g. http://www.wikihow.com/Unlock-a-Secure-PDF-File

Re: Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
Just for info, I tried unlockers but they do not work as the pdf is somehow secured without a password

Re: Problem of adding a SECURED pdf document
Phil, interesting, but I did note some of the unlockers only work to a certain version of adobe pdf. So in that case the previously screen capture method is probably the easiest option. There are other screen capturers available, some of which will also OCR the text.
