Exporting Records to CSV/Excel

Post by JNSgenealogy » 15 May 2015 12:49

Sorry if I am asking a too basic question but I have spent hours trying to work out how to do this :-)

I have customised the columns in Records-Individual and now have a list that is very useful to me.

To facilitate ease of checking for incorrect/missing data I would like to export these records (as is) to a csv file that I can import into excel.

I am sure (?) that this is possible but could some kind soul point me in the right direction.

Thanks

John

Welcome to the FHUG John.

Yes, there is a little trick to achieve that.
In the Configure Columns dialogue there is Save to Query..., which not only provides a backup of your customisation, but also is the route to a CSV export.

Then use View > Custom Queries and select the saved Query from above.

In the Query Window toolbar there is Save Query to File next to the cog Query Menu (that has similar options).

I advise you choose Save as Comma-Separated CSV File (ANSI)... to avoid problems with Excel and Unicode files.
