Web drag text with CR preserved
When I drag text from a webpage into "Text from source" field in the Source property box, the carriage returns get lost. That's a pity since it's such a handy feature.
Is this a bug (I hope so!)? If not, a small setting somewhere to preserve the CR's would be great.

Re: Web drag text with CR preserved
I'm on a tablet so cannot check FH.
Have you tried with the Text From Source edit window open?
Are you sure there are CR in the web text, or is it just word wrapped?

Re: Web drag text with CR preserved
Hi Mike,
Yes, I have the Web Search window on the left and the Source property box open on the right. When I copy lines from an external browser window everything works fine; but when I do it from the internal Web Search window everything gets concatenated together.
And that's just too bad; the internal window is a great feature. But, like this it's a show stopper. I hope it's a bug and can get fixed shortly. Or..., you must have something nice up your sleeve.
Cheers, Joop

Re: Web drag text with CR preserved
I have tried to repeat that problem in FH V6.0.4 but cannot.
The various web pages listed below all drag & drop newline chars OK to both Text From Source and the Note field:
http://www.1901censusonline.com/
http://www.1901censusonline.com/search. ... archtype=1&
https://www.google.co.uk/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate
Can you give more details of Windows version, Internet Explorer version, web addresses, etc.
Also please run Write Reg IE Shell Version Plugin and post what Internet Explorer Shell Version is in use, and its current key value, then Cancel Plugin.

Hi Mike,
I've enclosed a screen copy (this shows the Dutch website and the concatenated result of the drag).
I use Windows 8.1 and my browser (external is Chrome); don't use IE.
The site supports English as well.

Unfortunately, Windows does run IE and it gets used in the Internet Search Window. So please run the Plugin I requested to get the details.

It's 11. Should I change it to 9?

No, don't change anything yet.
Let me experiment with that website, FH v6.0.4, and IE.

Re: Web drag text with CR preserved
I have completed my experiments.
The IE Shell Version used in the FH Web Search Window makes no difference.
In fact using IE in an external browser window misbehaves the same way.
I have tried using the IE Tools > Compatibility View setting with no effect.
However, the problem only affects that tabular data section on that web page.
Other sections (and other web sites) drag & drop or copy & paste the newline characters OK.
I doubt if Calico Pie can do anything about that unusual IE effect.
You could try contacting the website designers and report the problem to them.

Re: Web drag text with CR preserved
Hi Mike,
So it's IE related. I use Chrome as the external browser and that obviously does support the tabular data when copying.
I guess we'll have to wait for Spartan (or Edge or whatever the final name is going to be) to solve the problem.
Thanks for diagnosing the problem!
Cheers, Joop
