I need generate a name list with the following columns

Record id of person - Name - Sex - Birth Date and location - Spouses ID - Parents Family ID.

I can figure out the first 4 columns, but the last 2 have me stomped. This is a standard report for Legacy but I like Family Historians system of entering information better. This report is the only thing keeping me from making the switch completely. Hope you can help.

The trick for any of these is to use the Data Reference tool and "drill down" to the item you want. Then wrapper it with the standard function for Recordid

Code: Select all

=RecordId(%INDI.~SPOU>%)

Code: Select all

 =RecordId(%INDI.FAMC>%)

Thank you that is what I'm looking for. Where are these expressions listed? I've looked through help and on line and can find only the basic ones.

To supplement Jane's good advice, have a look at how_to:understanding_expressions|> Understanding Expressions and its links to Data References and Functions and the FH Help on the topic.

Some clues exist in FH. In the Records Window and in Named Lists the Record Id is shown by default and by inspecting Configure Column reveals the =RecordId() function. The Help for this function says its parameter is a reference to a record (that defaults to the current context). So you need a Data Reference to the required Record by using the Data Rref Assistant (DRA).

The topic is covered in Getting the Most From Family Historian 5 mainly in Chapter 9 Diagrams and Chapter 14 Queries that shows how widespread Expressions are used.
