I am a new user with FH 6.0.4.
I have run into a problem with the creation of events where one needs a Family and Individual version of the same event.
In FH the Census for instance is Census (family) or Census - so it would presumably be acceptable to follow that pattern?
When one creates a new Event, I am rebuked for doing this because of the brackets which are not permitted characters.
Since I am trying to rid my import of hyphens (Event-Misc) which are also not permitted characters, it seems that some recent rules of FH to outlaw some characters are having unforseen consequences.
I only tried to add the word family in brackets because FH did not like me creating two events - family and individual - with the same name.

Re: Editing Events
Both Family Census and Census are standard Gedcom events, why are you trying to create custom versions?

Re: Editing Events
I think Evelyn is trying to create new Custom Facts with similar characteristics for both Individuals and Families, and is giving Census and Census (family) as existing examples.
As explained in TMG to FH Event-misc character problem (12546) the symbols such as hyphen and brackets must be omitted from the Fact Name but can be included in the Fact Label to achieve the same effect.
Actually the the Census and Census (family) facts both use the same CENS tag, and when creating a custom pair of an Individual Fact and a Family Fact they can both use the same Fact Name. (You do get a warning message, but that can be ignored.)
You can then add (family) to the Family Fact Label if you need to differentiate them, but it is not essential, because the context of Individual record (blue bullet Facts) and Family record (red bullet Facts) distinguishes them.

Thanks Mike, absolutely correct. I will ignore the warning. This is to do with Tags that are already shared. But if I move completely to FH, I will avoid shared Tags too.
