Sources for: <whole record>

I have a question concerning the source box (FH6). In the dropdown list you can select <whole record>.
What does this mean?

I hoped to see all existing sources for an individual. But the source list says: "No Sources" although my individual has 2 sources for alternative names.
Do I understand something wrong? Or is this an error?

FH may be different from other genealogy programs you have used.
Its database model is 100% compatible with the GEDCOM 5.5 Standard.

In GEDCOM 5.5 and thus FH, Source Citations can be attached to various database items.
The yellow Sources pane shows each database item that may have a Source Citation, and those that actually have a Citation are marked with an asterisk (*).

If a Source provides:
  • a person's name then attach it to the Primary or Alternate Name field.
  • birth details then attach it to the Individual Birth Event.
  • marriage details then attach it to the Family Marriage Event.
  • only that a person exists then attach it to the Individual <whole record>.
There are many other database items that can cite Sources.

So far I understand.
Other genealogical programs show a list of all assigned sources as an overview. (example Legacy).
This is very convenient to see if there are sources in one glance.
In FH6 I must look at the dropdown-list to see whether there are sources.

The Sources List for Individual Plugin will give you that list.

Yes I know this plugin.
Anyway, here a suggestion for improvement of the source-window: see attachment.
Would'nt it be nice to see the overview without plugin?

Yes, a neat idea.
Either add that to the New Wish List Requests Forum, or E-mail Calico Pie at support@family-historian.co.uk and suggest that change.
