MyHeritage website language

Does anyone know whether there is a way of setting the language of the MyHeritage website. The problem that I have is that I live in France and the site is shown in French rather than English. The top RH language choice is available and works so far as it gives the language options. However... it does not respond accordingly when clicked!
I can read the French but would prefer English.

I'm in UK but have just changed the language to French and German without any problem in both IE and Firefox.

What exactly happens?
Do you click Fermer bottom right, or just wait a few seconds?
Which web browser are you using (IE, Firefox, Chrome)?
Have you any popup blockers?

Hi
When I use Chrome I have no problem changing the language. The problem occurs when I am using MyHeritage within FH. I click on francais to bring up the options box, click on english and then fermer. I have also just waited after clicking english. Neither works unfortunately.

I have checked in FH on my computer and it switches between languages fine, you just need to ensure the page is fully loaded before you try to change it.

Thanks Jane and Mike. I can change to Swedish and Catalan!!! But no good trying to change to English!! I'll just stick to my adopted language.

Which Windows OS are you using (Vista, Win 7, Win 8)?

Also please Run the Write Reg IE Shell Version Plugin, but click Cancel Plugin, and tell us what IE Version it says is in use.

I have just tried the internal FH Web Search Window with MyHeritage in Windows Vista with IE Version 9 and very few of the links work initially. Certainly could not change language at all!

But then used the cog gear menu option Open in Extenal Web Browser and all links work OK.

However, on returning to the internal FH Web Search Window a minute or two later the links now all work correctly including changing language. It just seems quite slow to load initially.

Hi Mike
Running Windows 7
When I ran the Write Reg IE SHell Version plugin, it said version 11. I have rerun the plugin and changed the IE version to 9. Rebooted and retried the FH web internal search window. MyHeritage still does not change the language version to English - but will change it to Danish etc.. No trouble at all when I use the external web search window. I notice that the MyHeritage web address changes to the relevant country when changing the language - but does not change to .com remaining on on .fr

Yes, IE Shell Version 11 is set by the FH V6 installer and changing to IE Shell Version 9 will make little difference with MyHeritage.

Have you tried being very patient and waiting a minute or two before and after changing language options.

Also in FH internal Web Search Window, try right-click Refresh to update the window.

Once you get the language to 'stick' it should remember the setting in future.

I don't know if this will be of any help, but I took my laptop to France recently and noticed that the MyHeritage language had changed to French. I just used it like that and assumed it automatically used the language of the country I was in. I was very new to FH6 and had not really explored any options.

On returning to the UK the language remained in French on My Heritage so I changed it to English using the settings button already mentioned.

I came back to France last week (I have a cottage here so go back and forth frequently) and the language I had set (English) stayed.

Hope this is of some help.

Anne

Yes, Anne, that is what I meant when I said the language should 'stick'.
BUT, it only 'sticks' to the browser variant you are using.
i.e.
Set the language to French in Firefox and when you use Firefox on the same PC it will be French.
But Internet Explorer and Google Chrome will work quite independantly in a different language if you choose.
Also the Internet Explorer Shell used within FH Web Search Window counts as a different variant.
