Alternative Names

I hope I am not being blind and missing the obvious but.... when you add an alternative name to the more+ box I can't seem to find where to source this information. For instance if a person turns out to have two Christian names and one is used in most census and the other is suddenly used in one odd census. I know the information is recorded via Ancestral Sources to the census in question however it would be useful to see at a glance where the alternative names are used.

I hope this makes sense

Thanks,

Susan

Yes, it is a bit obscure how to do that.

With the yellow Source Citation pane displayed there is Sources For: box at the top.
Click it and a drop-list identifies all items that can have a Source Citation.
Those marked with an asterisk * already have at least one Citation.
Where there are multiple instances of the same type of item such as Census Events they have an instance [number].
In the case of Alternate Names these items are Name[2], Name[3], etc.
With say Name[2] selected you can use the Add Citation button.

Another way is to enable Automatic Source Citations so when the Alternate Name is added it automatically gets the Citation.

Having said all that, if the person really does have two Birth/Baptism/Christian names, but prefers each one at different times, then perhaps both should be in the Primary Name.
