Recording a Military Death

Within TMG I had a number of family members who died "in action" during WW1 and used a tag "MilCasualty" to reflect this, followed by a Burial tag to hold the war cemetary details. I tried a similar tack in FH for the death but FH is showing (on reports and the Records window) that the persons dates are "b.1895,bur.1918", although I had recorded full dates for both the death and burial. (I downloaded the Military 2 Fact Set but that does not include a Military Death fact, so I created a Custom one).

Would it be right to say that FH only "recognises" the Death Event as the holder of death data, or have I missed a setting somewhere?. I can't see anything in the FH Help / FHUG KnowledgeBase on the subject, so advices would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes Brent, for life dates FH will only recognise the Standard GEDCOM events for Birth, Baptism, Christening, Marriage, Divorce, Death, Burial & Cremation.

I don't think there is any mechanism for making Custom facts act as an alternative for one of those Standard events.

Thanks Mike - thought that may be the case so will change the tags in TMG before the final import.

You use Mike's Change any Fact Tag plugin to change them over as an alternate to doing so in TMG.

Thanks Jane - I've used that plugin a couple of times (very successfully) but as I am still "tinkering" and keep running new TMG Exports / FH Imports as I learn different things, I want to make as many data changes in TMG as possible (without upsetting that applications output) so that I can slowly reduce my list of pre/post data changes before the final cutover to FH.
