V6 Project Window - shortcut keys not working

Post by NickiP » 18 Jan 2015 10:07

I've just upgraded to a trial of V6 to see if I want to upgrade and generally finding a lot of changes are positive.

However, what I have noticed, and I don't know if this is just isolated to my PC, is that where previously under V5 in the Project Window I could press the first key of a Project name multiple times and it would move me down (and then back to the top) the list of Projects starting with that letter. Now with V6 it will take me to the first Project starting with that letter but then when I press the letter again 99% of the time it doesn't move down the list, although occasionally it will move to the next Project starting with that letter and then stop. If I press the wrong letter and try another, it simply doesn't move at all.

I'm wondering whether this is an issue with my PC or a deliberate feature or a bug?

I know I can use the mouse to select the desired Project but I have a long list of Projects and it was just as quick to press the keyboard key for the first letter of the Project.

Has anyone else noticed this? I did do a search of the Forum but couldn't see it raised previously.

Nicola

I think the general keyboard search for almost all lists has changed in FH V6 to be more consistent with Windows.

If you quickly type the first few characters that match what you are searching for then the first matching item is highlighted.

If you want to move down a list with the same initial character, then type that character a bit slower and it does work. Otherwise FH thinks you are searching for an item that starts with multiples of that character.

Thanks Mike, I'll give it a go. I have to admit if it is behaving more like windows keyboard search then that is an improvement. :)
