Exporting a custom query
I have checked the knowledgebase and also done a forum search but can't find the answer.
I have a couple of custom queries that I have created. Is there any way to export / copy these so I can import them into my laptop?
Program Files (x86) > Family Historian > Queries only seems to have the standard ones stored there. So I suppose the proper question is where does Family Historian store custom queries?

Colin,
In Windows 7/8/8.1, you'll find the full settings through the 'C:\Program Data\Calico Pie' Folder.
In a Wine (Crossover) installation you'll find them under drive_c/users/Public/Application Data/Calico Pie
I believe the Folder you've found is the 'core' installation and 'recovery' folder for restoring the original program settings.

Yes, Colin, never touch anything in C:\Program Files... unless specifically instructed to do so.
The custom file for everything are in folders as defined in glossary:family_historian_program_data_folder|> Family Historian Program Data Folder.
But in your simple case just use File > Import/Export > Export > Query in Crossover and then File > Import/Export > Import > Query on laptop.

Mike
Thanks except it is the other way
desktop is a PC and laptop is the MAC. I need to get a couple of queries over to the MAC
That I didn't spot queries in import / export.
Thanks except it is the other way

Re: Exporting a custom query
Any idea why FH should store the custom query FOUR times?
This is on my Windows Desktop
C:\ProgramData\ApplicationData\ApplicationData\ApplicationData\CalicoPie\Family Historian\(Queries)
C:\ProgramData\ApplicationData\ApplicationData\CalicoPie\Family Historian\(Queries)
C:\ProgramData\ApplicationData\CalicoPie\Family Historian\(Queries)
C:\ProgramData\CalicoPie\Family Historian\(Queries)
This is the same for all standard and custom queries. Seems a real waste of hard disk space all this duplication.

Re: Exporting a custom query
They are not actually stored four times, because those four paths all point to the same Calico Pie folder.
They are implemented using what MS Windows call junctions and only exist to maintain backwards compatibility with earlier path names.
If you Google search for Win 7 C:\ProgramData\Application Data\ there is LOADS all about it.
